Owners Billy and Madge Marley Howell are native Mississippi Deltans and founders of The Delta Bohemian®, an online literary and mulit-media website celebrating the unity and diversity of the Mississippi Delta.
The Delta Bohemian Guest House (DBGH), a former two story Delta cypress cook's house, and The White House were built in 1917 by a Delta planter. The DBGH was extensively restored in 2012 by the Howells with the help of fellow native Deltan, friend, and interior designer Marilyn Trainor Storey, principal designer of Jackson, Mississippi's Per Design Studio and design blogger MS Design Maven. The WH began renting rooms in 2015.
The Howells and Storey have created a one-of-a-kind lodging using an upscale, yet earthy and bohemian style, infusing the DBGH and the WH with warmth and a real sense of the old Mississippi Delta. The DBGH and the WH are ideal respites for couples, groups of friends, small families, business travelers, and Deltans returning home for the holidays.
Owners Madge and Billy live in The White House part-time in the downstairs owner's suite.
The Delta Bohemians are proud to offer both of these authentic, unique treasures-of-a-place-to-stay to visitors from around the world making their pilgrimage to Clarksdale, heart of the Mississippi Delta.
There is nowhere else quite like the Delta Bohemian Guest House and The White House. Let Poor William and Magical Madge welcome you and orient you to this historical delta town. They are both Clarksdale born and bred. Let them give you a personal introduction to their town starting with a reservation at their Delta Bohemian Guest House or a room at The White House.
Rent the DBGH, rent a room in The White House or rent both! You will love it!
